Here are some local events we’re looking forward to this month:

ACA January Art Reception // Tuesday, January 3rd

Enjoy light refreshments and hear from abstract artist Martin Pope at ACA Business Club. This event is free and open to the public - Tuesday, January 3rd from 5PM - 7PM!

Abigail Rose, Meredith Shaw, & Dennis Layne - Tenth Street Listening Room @ Cafe Berlin // Wednesday, January 4th

Stop by Cafe Berlin, Wednesday the 4th, for some darn good music on the Berlin Stage from local songwriting gems Abigail Rose, Meredith Shaw, and Dennis Layne. Fresh cocktails and whiskey will be available to keep you warm and cozy! This is a free event!

First Friday in The District // Friday, January 6th

With live music, art and entertainment, this is a great event to get out and discover The North Village Arts District! First Fridays typically happen from 6 PM - 9 PM but hours may vary by venue. View a map/guide and get a list of participating venues at northvillageartdistrict.org

One of our favorite places to stop by is Coming Home! Visit our friend Jean and check out her unique shop with eco-friendly and sustainable items! Let her know we sent you!

MO Fest 2023 - Music Fest in Columbia // January 6th, 7th, 13th and 14th at The Blue Note & Rose Music Hall

There are many things that make Missouri great. One of those things are our local artists - in this case, musicians! Choose one night/show, multiple or grab a full pass for just $50 to see and hear these artists pour their hearts out. Show some love for the artists and wash it all down with Missouri beer at this two weekend event presented by MO Fest & Logboat Brewing Company

Chakra Workshop at Sumits Hot Yoga // Saturday, January 7th

Glenn’s Dinner and Wine Series // Tuesday, January 10th

Enjoy an exquisite evening with friends, great food and lots of wine for a dining experience like no other at Glenn’s Cafe! They will be presenting a four course dinner crafted by their Executive Chef and their Sommelier will guide guests through each wine pairing. Rainbow House Cornhole Tournament and Auction // Saturday, January 14th

Get your bags ready! Rainbow House's first Cornhole Tournament and Auction is being held in Hangar 120 at Columbia Jet Center on January 14th, 2023. With silent and live auction items up for grabs and prizes for the top teams, you are guaranteed to have a great time for a great cause!

Winter Open House at Columbia Independent School // Saturday, January 21st

Whether you have a child about to enter kindergarten or a teen looking for a more challenging environment, you’re invited to attend the Winter Open House on Saturday, January 21st! During this event, you can tour the campus, meet teachers and school leaders, and learn more about the admissions process and affordability.

A Taste of True/False // Sunday, January 22nd

Get a taste of the True/False Film Fest experience! Enjoy live music from a local musician, be greeted by a Queen, grab a treat and then grab a seat to watch the documentary film LOVERS OF THE NIGHT (T/F 2018). Following the film, Ragtag Film Society Co-Custodian Arin Liberman will host a Q&A to answer all of your T/F curiosities, and they’ll give away door prizes to a few lucky attendees! This event takes place in Columbia Public Library's Friends room (turn left before the staircase and the room will be on your left!)

Columbia, MO NWS Storm Spotter Presentation // Tuesday, January 24th

Do you have an interest in weather and helping your community? Here’s a great opportunity for you! The National Weather Service Forecast Office in St. Louis, in coordination with county emergency managers, are offering storm spotter classes at several locations to prepare for severe weather season. If you would like to assist your local community by becoming a volunteer storm spotter and reporting severe weather to the National Weather Service, or if you simply want to learn more about severe weather, consider attending one of these classes! Classes are normally held in the evening and last approximately 2 hours. Attendees are taught the basics of thunderstorm development, storm structure, the features to look for, and where to find them. What, when and how to report information as well as basic severe weather safety are also covered.

Country Dance at American Legion Post 202 // Saturday, January 28th

Get ready to country dance ya’ll! DJ Carl will be playing country music, from classic to modern, to keep you on the dance floor all evening at this fun event that’s open to the public! Cash bar will be available. No outside alcohol allowed on the premises. Dance your way to the American Legion, 3669 Legion Lane, Columbia on Saturday, January 28th, 7PM - 11PM.
