Passing the Basket // Part 2

The basket has been passed!

The basket has officially been passed!

It almost didn’t happen…

It’s April 2020. We were in the thick of the pandemic and the stay at home order was in full effect.

At this point, I was still an active residential Realtor and I had 4 closings scheduled on April 2:
3 closings in the morning for Real Estate clients
1 closing in the afternoon for Columbia Welcome

What were we thinking… buying a business in the midst of the pandemic…

Let me tell ya…

I vividly remember a conversation John + I had in our living room the day before we were signing all the documents.

I asked John if he was excited and he cautiously and nervously said yeah…

I looked at him confused (and not convinced). Then it hit me.

I panic asked about 500 questions at once:
”are we crazy?…”
”what are we doing buying a business that’s built on going INSIDE someone’s home to welcome them and converse with them in the midst of a pandemic with stay at home orders in place?!”
”should we actually go through with this??”
”is it too late to change our minds?”

Then I stopped and went back to my calm + excited state when IT hit me…

I wasn’t willing to lose Columbia Welcome.

So we did it. We took the leap of faith. Signed the dotted line.

However you want to say it - we did the dang thang!!

We knew it wasn’t going to be easy. But we also knew it was going to be SO worth it.

So here we are on April 2, 2020. I get my closings done in the morning for my Real Estate clients and then head on to close the deal on Columbia Welcome.

Fast forward to today - it’s Sunday, July 10, 2022 and we just celebrated our 2 year anniversary in April!

I have fallen SO in love with Columbia Welcome since we took ownership and I see so much potential in all that it is that I decided to put my Real Estate license in holding last year (2021). The growth that has happened to date is amazing and I’m so excited for all that’s to come!

*spoiler alert: there’s a lot in the works and some new things are coming soon! Stay tuned…
